IGNcube: Why wasn't there a multiplayer mode in Battalion Wars? Will this be addressed in a possible Revolution sequel?
Tancred Dyke-Wells: Ultimately we had to drop multiplayer for this iteration of Battalion Wars in order to deliver a core, single-player experience of Nintendo quality within the budget and timescale available to us.
I have to admit that it was a disappointment to us, because we have functioning split-screen multiplayer on GCN, and it is fun. However, there were issues to resolve to meet the quality required. Specifically, because we did not at that time offer any means for the player to re-spawn or generate new units, battles tended to deteriorate into fights between increasingly small groups of units. The player who gained an early advantage was sure to win. These are problems it would be straightforward enough for us to address, but unfortunately not within the time available -- not without compromising the single-player campaign experience that forms the center of the title.
All I can say is, we're very aware of how important multiplayer is for possible future versions of Battalion Wars.

Why did you opt not to include naval units in the game?
Tancred Dyke-Wells: Again, this really has more to do with the pressures of an 18-month development cycle than any positive decision to remove them. These kinds of features are on the top of our agenda for any possible future iteration of Battalion Wars. Along with a few other items, I might add.
